Man City - Spurs Player Ratings & Redknapp's Comments AKA Damp Squib End to the Season Continues

Rather poetically, the final champions league spot for two seasons in a row has mathematically been resolved, against the same team, at the same ground, by the same scoreline, in the same goal, by the same player. Yes, Crouchy sent us into the champions league last time, and sent Man City into it this time. This was just the latest dissapointing moment of 2011 to befall our team. For ages now, we've not been sharp enough, and have been unable to finish teams off.

We absolutley dominated posession last night, but that's pretty much pointless when all you do in the final third is faff around with the ball outside the box. I found myself screaming at them to get some crosses onto Crouchy's head, but all they wanted to do was pass it around and either lose it or just blast it over the bar. It's the sort of match that had it actually mattered, I would have been screaming at the screen alot more. There were a few plus points though, mentioned in the player ratings below...

Cudicini 7.5 - Couldn't do much about the goal and made some top saves. I'd say he deserves to see the season out as our number one keeper.
Rose 7 - Not a bad showing. Not better than BAE, but a decent back up option.
Gallas 7 - Body on the line stuff. Made an excellent goal line clearance towards the end when his leg was hanging off. Brilliant, but it didn't really matter one nil down with a few minutes to go.
Dawson 6.5 - Few dodgy challenges and was done for pace a few times. Solid enough though.
Corluka 6 - Frustrating. Reluctant to get crosses into the box. No Lennon you have it. Rafa, you have the ball. Modric, take it off me please. CROSS THE BALL!!!
Lennon 7 - Looked dangerous, but lost the ball a few times and again was reluctant to get crosses in.
Sandro & Modric 7 - The Future.
Palacios 5 - Unlucky to get injured early on.
VDV 6 - Lots of running around, not much end product. Robbie Keane in other words.
Crouch 5 - Scored an own goal and was kept well out of the game by a combination of the City defence and the Spurs reluctance to get balls into the box.

Subs
Pienaar 6 - Crap first half, reasonable second.
Kaboul 5 - Not much time. Enough to give away a few free kicks though.
Defoe 5 - Playing with strikers is pretty much pointless.

And on to our illustrious leaders post match comments...

"I'm going to go and commit suicide, it's so sad,"
Excellent, more sarcastic comments to wind up the Spurs fans. Really could do without our manager winding us up all the time.

"We've played well but have just not been able to finish teams off and have drawn a lot. It's been a great season and people shouldn't just look at the last few games."
By definition, a season is all of the games within said season. Hence when you look back at some of the crap points we've dropped and the almost guaranteed top four finish we begun to throw away around 11 - 12 games away, it's not been a great season.

"We've been in good form, much better than the results have shown."
Hmm. Debabteable. And unfortunatley, it's the results that matter.

"Over the whole season it's been a great season. Probably the best Tottenham have had in God knows how long."
Last season was better. Hmm, didn't have to look too far for that.

"I don't know if we've got any money to spend."
Reassuring

"We need to shift a few in the summer and bring one or two in. Eight of that team were bottom of the league. We had two point from eight games, so we've improved the players here rather than gone out and spent money."
Ah, the good 'ol 2 points 8 games line. It wouldn't be a Redknapp interview without it.

Twat.

Liverpool will batter us, but please, all I ask is that we win our last home game. Something for the fans to cheer about. COYFS
