Wolves 0v2 Spurs Review, Ratings, Gallery & Video

Forget those past two matches, the season has started now. Points on the board and promising signs from all over the park. The first half was scrappy and not alot happened in the way of goal soring opportunities. The second half however, Modric, Parker and Adebayor all showed their quality and supreme ability in possession, keeping the ball and not letting Wolves have even a sniff of a chance.

A good pass from Kranjcar, to Parker, who slotted a perfectly weighted pass through the defence to Adebayor running in from behind. He collected the ball, rounded the keeper and put it in the net for the first goal. Second goal, good movement from Defoe, and a brilliant 1-2 with Kranjcar put us 2-0 up. Game over. Clean sheet away from home, two goals from two strikers?! I could get used to that.

Player Ratings
Friedel 7 - Some good saves, and kept a clean sheet. One scary moment from a Wolves in swinging free kick. He didn't come for it, the defenders didn't get to it, Wolves put a head on it, narrowly wide. If it was on target, it was in. Some moments of wayward distribution.

Walker 6 - Good going forwards, his pace allowed him to stretch the Wolves defence and leg it back to defend when needed. Nothing too special created, nothing too disastrous conceded either. Needlessly booked for arguing.

King 5.5 - Well off the pace, misplaced passes and was caught in possession a few times. Obviously lacking match fitness.

Kaboul 6.5 - Mopped up King's errors on more than one occasion. Other than that, a pretty standard performance.

BAE 7 - Brilliantly ran the left side of the pitch throughout the match, cutting out attacks, starting new ones, running on to balls and putting crosses in all day long. Had one of his moments of madness as he attempted a hoofed pass back to Friedel from beyond the half way line, only to send Kaboul scrambling and King hobbling to cut it out before a Wolves player got hold of it.

Bale 5 - Still failing to find any sort of form. Playing him on the right means he is to scared to put crosses in with his right foot. Instead cutting back inside, allowing the defence to catch up before wasting a cross or getting tackled. Some really crap crosses today as well. Needs to rediscover his form big time.

Parker 7.5 - Good positioning, and was all over any Wolves player that had the ball for more than a few seconds. Provided that much needed cover and break up play for the defence. Combined well with Ade for the first goal. A couple of late tackles and a booking to go with his otherwise excellent debut.

Modric 7.5 - Luka's back people! Seemed interested and had "his head in the game". Good passing and through balls. The Parker/Modric combo could really work for us.

Kranjcar 6 - Slow to react, crap passing, crossing, repeatedly caught in possession and seemingly completely uninterested. Missed an easy goal in the first half. Woeful performance only redeemed by a nice 1-2 with Defoe for the second goal.

Adebayor 7.5 - Brilliant debut. Good holdup play and movement. Rounded the keeper and slotted home a debut goal. If he is only good when he's on it, today he was on it.

Defoe 7 - Looking sharper and miles better than last season. Adebayor and Defoe combo clearly going to be the number one combo. Brilliantly worked 1-2 goal with Kranjcar that wouldn't have looked out of place in the Nou Camp.

Subs - Livermore and Dos Santos came on, but didn't really have much time to affect the play at all.

Two goals, three points, clean sheet. Job done. Bring on Liverpool. COYS
