Spurs 1 Sunderland 0 - Report, Ratings & Player Twitter Reaction

A nervy first half that saw Lennon removed with injury. With Modric drifting away from the left and VDV sure to drift away from the right, I was worried we'd have no width. We didn't, we missed it, but Pav gave us the lead and King, Gallas, Sandro and Friedel kept it for us.

Parker pressuring Sunderland off the ball in midfield, he gave it to Rafa via Modric who played a lovely pass to Pav who took one touch and blasted it into the bottom left corner. 1-0.

The second half was a nervy affair, especially when Sandro was forced off with injury. Sunderland were relentless, but fortunately also toothless. The match ended 1-0. Up to 3rd place.

Player Ratings
Friedel 7 - Solid. Some crucial takes late on in the game.
Walker 7 - Lots of forwards runs and always a threat, but consistently let Sunderland players get crosses round him.
Gallas 8.5 - Brilliant. Always the winner in a headed battle, harassed Sunderland players, quick to close down wayward balls and a few last ditch blocks and clearances.
King 7.5 - Solid performance from King as always.
BAE 6.5 - A few dodgy moments and was caught out during some of his mental moments. Got booked, but got plenty of crosses in during the second half.
Lennon 5.5 - Good start, but injured early. A suspected hamstring tear that would keep him out for weeks.
Parker 7 - His usual good self, but some misplaced passes and got caught in possession a few times which knocked a point off.
Sandro 8 - Quiet in the first half, crucial in the second half. Lots of tracking back and hard tackling stopped Sunderland from getting back into the game.
Modric 7 - Drifted in from the wing and left BAE isolated at times but pushed forwards throughout.
VDV 7.5 - Quiet first half and was dropping too deep but assisted the goal and looked sharp in the second half.
Ade 6 - Plenty of running but was offside far too much and pretty quiet.

Pav 6.66 - So frustrating. He can score, he can be brilliant, he scores the goals that prove that, but he's so inconsistent from minute to minute, is always a slow to react, splurges so many other chances and loses the ball from heavy touches far too much.
Rose 5 - Quiet.
Livermore 5.5 - On late but missed a few tackles, lost the ball a couple of times, but was confident in possession at others.
