Spurs v Sunderland - Opposition Fan View, Pub Ammo & Team News

Peruse the Sunderland fan forums and you'll find quite a few optimistic fans. Despite our brilliant form of late, following our defeat against Stoke, Sunderland's win against Blackburn and the appointment of Martin O'Neill, a few of the Sunderland fans genuinely think they will win this match and that "Spurs ain't all that" and "we've just been built up by sky and the media into thinking we're something we're not".

Other more realistic fans point out that despite all of the above, Spurs would have beaten Stoke if the ref wasn't useless, and that their win over Blackburn, was only a win over Blackburn and they still played pretty poorly. They reckon an in form Bale and Lennon will get plenty of joy down the wings and that they only glimmer of hope for them could come in the form of our tendency to give away lots of free kicks just outside the area as Laarson has scored 3 out of 6 direct free kicks this season.

Sunderland Fan Forum Predictions: Spurs Win: 40%, Draw 30%, Sunderland Win 30%

Pub Ammo
Tottenham have had more shots on target this season than any other team in the league.

Sunderland only have one win in 20 visits since 1978.

Spurs have 31 points from their opening 14 matches - their highest points total at this stage of a top-flight season since 1960-61 when they had the equivalent of 40 points. That season they went on to win the title.

Emmanuel Adebayor has never scored against Sunderland in five previous attempts.

Aaron Lennon is in line to make his 250th appearance for Tottenham, while Luka Modric could make his 100th Premier League start.

Martin O'Neill has lost only three of 16 matches against Tottenham and is unbeaten in his last three league visits to White Hart Lane.

Only Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City have conceded fewer goals than Sunderland this season.

Three of the last four penalties in this fixtures have been saved - all taken by Sunderland & Darren Bent

Team News
King is a doubt, Kaboul is suspended, Huddlestone and Dawson are still out. Sandro, Krancjar and Pienaar all came through the match against Shamrock and are likely to take their places on the lovely Tottenham bench. If King and Gallas play, correct me if I'm wrong, but won't that be the first time we've seen them at CB together?

Stoke was a blip. A blip engineered with the help of some shocking refereeing. At home we have enough to overpower most teams, and I don't see Sunderland escaping  the frustration of last weekend being taken out on them. 3-1 Spurs. COYS!
