The only positives they’ve drawn on are that Ade and VDV aren't exactly in goal scoring form at the moment and Lennon possibly being out means the shape of our team may suffer and we can be got at down our right wing. On the other hand, they say they can't commit too much down that side as they need to defend from Bale on the other side. Perhaps that's why when Lennon was out we didn't suffer too much...
Anyway, the feeling of total depression can be summed up with this one opinion on how the match will go:
"Our season starts Wednesday"
Wigan Fan Predictions: Spurs Win 90%, Draw 5%, Wigan Win 5%
Pub Ammo
-Younes Kaboul has lost just one tackle all season, having won 33, giving him an incredible tackles won percentage of 98%. Kaboul is also in the top 5 for clearances with 50 so far this season.
-Luka Modric has the joint highest number of passes completed in his opponent’s half this season – tied with David Silva on 743
-Last years 1-0 win over us was only Wigan's second victory over Spurs.
-Wigan have scored just 12 goals in the 13 league meetings between the sides.
-Against Manchester City, Ledley King conceded Tottenham's first penalty of the season - Wigan have conceded eight, four of which have been missed
-Jermain Defoe has scored a league goal every 113 minutes of playing time this season, compared with one goal per 189 minutes by Emmanuel Adebayor.
-Rafael van der Vaart has scored just once in his last 12 games.
-Three of Tottenham's four defeats in the league this season have come against north-west teams.
Wigan
-Gary Caldwell has given away more than twice as many penalties (seven) as any other Premier League player since January 2010.
-Wigan have scored (42%) of their goals from outside the penalty area, the highest percentage in the top division.
-The Latics have scored only 19 goals from 297 shots this season, a rate of one goal per 15.6 shots.
Team News
Bale returns to the squad, as will King if he comes through training Ok. Lennon and Defoe are doubts after picking up hamstring injuries against Watford. Potentially a worry if Defoe is out, he loves bullying lower teams, and the first choice Ade/VDV combo has been a bit quiet on the goal front of late. Add that to the fact that with Lennon potentially out, the shape of our team suffers as Bale goes mental and just runs about a lot.
I've dropped Parker for Livermore as Parker just doesn't look fit and his performances have dropped recently, whilst on the other hand Livermore has been great. Pienaar on the right doing the ‘ol switcheroo with Bale as well. I'd play the team below, but if Lennon isn't fit I'd expect to see Harry put out Modric, Parker, Livermore and Bale in the middle instead.
Friedel
Walker Kaboul King BAE
Pienaar Livermore Modric Bale
VDV
Ade
We've got to get back on track and win this, Wigan are rock bottom and asking to be beaten. We have to comply. If we don't win I might very well smash White Hart Lane up. 3-1 Spurs. COYS.
