Return to Four-m – Report, Ratings & Twitter Reaction from Kaboul, Walker etc…

If the Blackburn game was a stepping stone to form, this was the realisation of it. Except for 15 or so minutes at the start of the second half, this was another game in which Spurs dominated, but this time the slick play of the first half of the season shone through as we tore Bolton apart in the space of ten minutes.

The first goal was top drawer. A VDV corner to outside the box, controlled by Modric on his chest and then smacked into the top corner curling away from the keeper at the last minute from 25 yards out. 0-1.

The rest of the first half was played out in a similar fashion, Spurs were knocking on the door, Bolton looked unable to get a grip of the game. When the teams came out for the second half, it's almost as if they had switched shirts such was the turn around in control of the game. Bolton equalised via some lax Spurs defending, the ball is flicked on to the untracked Reo-Coker who slotted the ball past Friedel. 1-1.

Bolton continued to press which perhaps left them a little exposed. After an unsuccessful first half for Bale, he broke down the left and played a lovely backwards pass to Rafa's feet. One touch and he's guided the ball across the goal into the net. 1-2.

The third came after Luka spotted a run by Lennon and sent a beautifully weighted ball through the Bolton defence, Lennon took it into the box, crossed it across the goal to Ade who had an easy tap in. 1-3.

Another defence splitting pass set up our fourth. This time Bale set Adebayor up for a one on one. Ade rounded the keeper to coolly slot it into the net. After what has seemed like an age, we got to witness the Bale/Ade Assist & Goal celebration once more. 1-4 and job done.

Player Ratings
Friedel 7.5 - Some great reaction saves during the Bolton spell of dominance. Controlled throughout. Except for that one almost Gomes moment late on where he mis controlled a back pass heading towards the goal.
Walker 7.5 - Alot of joy for him and Lennon down the right wing. Kept the Bolton attacks down our left mostly in check.
Gallas 7 - At times looked out paced but made up for it with some good positioning.
Kaboul 8 - Utter beast. Him being back is a massive boost for us.
Rose 6.5 - Weak first half, quiet second one as Bale stayed left to help him out defensively.
Lennon 8.5 - Ricketts had no idea how to deal with him. Lennon was forever getting past him, a shame his final ball leaves something to be desired otherwise we could have had many more. Excellent pace and final ball to Ade for our third goal however.
Sandro 7.999 - Controlled Bolton in the first half, nowhere to be seen at the start of the second half but recovered with the rest of the team and slowly got Bolton back into check.
Modric 8.9 - Finally a good game from Luka in 2012! Cracking goal to open the scoring, amazing through ball to Lennon for the third goal and controlled the Spurs attacks all night.
Bale 8 - Rubbish first half as he flitted around the pitch and continuously lost the ball thanks to a heavy touch or misplaced pass. The second half he stayed on the left and was back to the Bale of old. Helped out the shaky Rose in defence and went off on surging runs galore and produced two excellent assists.
VDV 8 - Always involved again, perfectly hit shot for the important second goal.
Ade 8 - A less than average first half saw him run himself into trouble time after time. During the second half everyone had stepped up their game. There were more chances and Ade coolly converted two of them.

Livermore, Nelsen & Saha 5 - All brought on to hold station and provide rest to their starting 11 counterparts.

Two down, two to go. COYS!
